Chandler Smith
Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability
Chandler Sachs is a Ph.D candidate at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS), a member of the Urban Sustainability Research Group and an affiliate of the Informal Sustainability Lab. His research interests include transboundary flows of natural resources, climate change and natural hazard impacts on critical infrastructure, extended urbanization, and security and social vulnerabilities related to coupled human-environment systems. Prior to the University of Michigan, he received his M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge, Christ's College. Before Cambridge, he worked for the RAND Corporation in DC. He did his undergraduate studies at Cornell University. He is working on better understanding the "first mile" of the critical mineral supply chain through remote sensing and data science techniques. This will support further research to understand extended urbanization processes.
